What is a Neuropsychological Evaluation?

A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of an individual’s cognitive abilities . The Specialist Provider will complete a clinical interview, obtain medical records, and complete collateral interviews (when available). The evaluation includes standardized tests and questionnaires. Cognitive domains typically include:

  • Intelligence, academic skills, problem solving
  • Organization and planning
  • Attention, concentration
  • Language
  • Visual perception, visual spatial abilities
  • Sensory-motor functions
  • Personality
  • Social-emotional functioning

The evaluation typically includes three appointments:

Consultation – 1 hour

Assessment – 4 hours

Feedback – 1 hour
